It's All About the Food - Newsletter

Welcome

Hi, welcome to your first newsletter from Pat Smith and It's All about the Food.

First things first. You have been subscribed to this newsletter. You can unsubscribe yourself if you chose. Or you can ask for a change of name or email address. Either can be accomplished by clicking the Manage Your Subscription link at the bottom of this message. Want to talk about it? Just reply to this email and I promise to respond.

The book, It’s All about the Food, is very basic, written for normal people who don’t spend their time reading scientific literature or listening to experts in the field of health and nutrition. That would be you. It’s a book written by a person who has been down the poor nutrition and health road and doesn’t want you to go there. That would be me.

My job with the book was to do the reading, listening, and thinking and then convert frequently complex material about food/diet and illness into words simple enough for the rank and file. That is still my job.

In other words, nothing has changed. My focus continues to be on prevention of chronic diseases. That means I’m not in the business of treating illness. Doctors treat illness. I do my best to help you avoid illness and stay out of your doctor’s office. If that is important to you then you may want to hang around.

The mechanisms I have employed to create interest in diet and health have been limited. The book, my It’s All about the Food Facebook page, website allaboutthefood.org, and a newspaper column each have their own narrow, sometimes local level of success. This newsletter is intended to broaden the scope.

Here is what you may expect from my newsletters.
  • They will arrive infrequently with no regular schedule.
  • They will not be replications of any post that I have done on my Facebook page or in my newspaper column. That is you may well be receiving perspective, information, and suggestions that have not otherwise appeared elsewhere.
  • Each newsletter will have a topic. You and only you can decide if this topic or any future topic is of interest to you.
One last thought. The information in It’s All about the Food is foundational, like the concrete slab that supports your house or the compost added to your garden. Understanding the basics helps get in context everything you learn about here. It is available from Amazon in paperback and Kindle. http://www.amazon.com/Its-All-About-Food-American/dp/0692567127

Again, welcome to your edition newsletter. I pray it helps make a difference in your life.
